Border Expension: What’s Happening?

Hey everyone, pedro announced some big updates on the world expansion.

The Timeline

Pedro says the software side should be ready in about two weeks (starting from today, Feb 3rd).

Just a heads-up: this isn't a guaranteed launch date. We want to make sure everything actually works before we push it live, so if we need a few extra days to polish things, we’re going to take them. Better safe than sorry.

The Server Situation

Software is one thing, but we also need the hardware to run it. DonutSMP ordered new servers to handle the extra load, but they haven't arrived yet. DonutSMP can't expand the map until those are plugged in and ready to go.

The New Border: 30 Million

When the update drops, the border is going to be massive. DonutSMP is moving it out to 30,000,000 (30M) in every direction. Like vanilla.

Wait, what about RTP? Pedro decided to keep the RTP radius exactly where it is. Even though the map is getting huge, The RTP will stay the same. You’re welcome to travel out to the 30M mark, but the random teleports will stay within the current range to keep the community together.
